Why My Pet Is Special

Olivia Motherway

My pet is a puppy, she is a beagle named Zoey.   I think she is special, well, because I guess you could call her the “runt”, out of her brothers and sisters.  But just because she’s small doesn’t mean she’s not really fast.  So sometimes my brother and I run around the house, and Zoey follows us.  It turns into her leading us, rather than her following us, so it’s like a type of race.  Also, my siblings and I have been trying to teach the puppy “fetch” – she gets that part about going and getting the ball, and then bringing it back to us, but she doesn’t let go of the ball to give it to us.  We’re still working on it.

In the beginning I told you about how my dog could be called the “runt” of her family.  Well, if a dog and /or person walks near our house, she starts barking like crazy, to protect our family and herself.  Once, one of our neighbors’ dog, they live a few houses down the street, wandered into our yard and Zoey’s fur stuck straight up and she started barking a lot!

My dog is fast, like most other dogs, my dog is smart, like many other dogs and my dog loves to chew on lots of things!  Once, I came home from school and Zoey bit off a little bit of the tongue on my sneaker!  Also she’s chewed up several pairs of gloves and mittens, soccer balls, blankets, shoes, and mostly anything she finds!

There’s still one thing I haven’t told you about, and it’s a very one of a kind thing, and beagle dogs are partly known for this, I think it’s adorable!  She tilts her head to the side just a little, like she’s trying to say “Why are you leaving me?” and her eyes get glossy.  I never can really leave her if she’s doing that.

I think my puppy is special because there are a lot of activities that make up her life, and one of the activities are being with my family – with me; just having fun.
